Fantasmic--Disneyland History-540
Description: Direct Link: http://www.dldhistory.com/link2us.asp?ID=1013
The dragon has an unofficial nickname given to it by the cast and crew of the show. Its nickname: Bucky.
Original name for Fantasmic was Imagination but was changed since Disney could not copyright the name.
This was the first show in the US to use the new French water screens. In addition to being used for back projection, they can completely hide Tom Sawyer Island for set changes.
Film images are projected onto three massive mist screens which appear on the River. Each screen is 50 feet wide, 30 feet high, and 6 inches thick.
Features include lasers, fog effects, water fountains, fireworks, and fiber-optics technology.
Maleficent, the Sleeping Beauty sorceress, is transformed into a 45-foot dragon which breathes fire and ignites the surface of the River.
Five water barges are the means by which a 20-foot-tall Ursula and a 25-foot-long Crocodile move about the river.
Statistics:
Length of Presentation: 22 minutes
Stage: For the most part, Fantasmic! takes place on the water. The remainder of the production occurs on the new "rest area" in front of the Cider Mill on Tom Sawyer Island. While guests may visit here during the day, at night it is a performance space including a 20-foot by 20-foot trap door.
Crew: 50 per performance
Costumes: 341 costumes are necessary to operate seven nights a week.

Is America Falling Apart In More Then One Way? (see details)
Description: The US disintegrating by 2010?
Not likely...in that time frame.
US self-destruction has been a Russian and Soviet theme for decades.
The Russians should know...having watched their own Union disintegrate.
But what does "disintegrate" mean? Dis-integrate. Break into pieces.
Is that so really unlikely?
It is if you don't know history.
Strangely missing from the hysteria over a Russian academic's prediction is the existence of a well reasoned study of the same topic by an American academic and venture capitalist Juan Enriquez.
You can read his book "The Untied States of America" ("un-tied", get it?)
Enriquez has a 50 year time frame and he's not predicting (much less hoping for) dis-integration of the US into smaller countries.
But he points out that not only is it possible, there's evidence the US is on this seemingly unlikely trajectory.
Reality check:
ALL states disintegrate over time. Anyone who doesn't know this hasn't thought about the last 200 years of history. In fact, the US came pretty darn close to dis-integrating less than 150 years ago.
But US dis-integration by the end of 2010? That's a heck of a projection.

The Live Together, Die Alone YouTube Copyright Experiment
Description: So I was thinking we should compile a list of songs no longer aloud on youtube so the rest of us won't repeat mistakes and upload things that won't work. You know? Watch the video and post your copyrighted songs. And pass this along because if we can't live together in this each one of us is going to die alone (I.E. going to be deleted off youtube).
This might be a waste of time sure. But if one person put there sees the list before spending HOURS AND HOURS making their video its been worth it.
